The Oberon service consists in the home care of patients in the vegetative state and minimally conscious state through the integration of home visits with a remote team, the automated monitoring of vital parameters and teleconsultation from the Istituto S. Anna operating centre located at the Poggio Pudano facility called Special Operating Unit. The remote team, composed of a specialist doctor, a professional nurse, a rehabilitation therapist and a home assistant for the vegetative state (ADOVS), carries out scheduled visits with different frequencies according to the patient’s clinical conditions. The doctor and the home assistant for the vegetative state are made available by Istituto S. Anna, while the nurse and therapist are made available by the individual Provincial Health Centre. Telemonitoring is guaranteed through the home installation of sensor devices connected via web with the Special Operating Unit. The vital parameters are detected automatically over the 24-hour period, while the presence of medical and paramedical staff working at the Special Operating Unit is guaranteed from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. The service also provides teleconsultation through video calls aimed at verifying the patient’s general conditions and supporting the client’s family. The service also provides technical assistance that ensures that the equipment installed at home is always operating. An INNOVATIVE service offered in the field of Integrated Home Care.
