Quality certification according to ISO 9001

In December 2003, the St. Anna Institute obtained quality certification according to ISO 9001 for all Operational Units and all related Services/Laboratories. The Awakening Unit had already been certified according to ISO 9001 in February 2001.

ISO 9001 is a voluntary standard adopted internationally and aimed at creating a Quality Management System to guide and control all company activities. It is the most famous and widespread standard for quality improvement and is the standard chosen by all those organisations that intend to equip themselves with a working tool aimed at continuous improvement and that want to increase their efficiency, reduce costs, and increase customer loyalty. A company with an ISO 9001 certified quality system is a company that offers the guarantee of a solid structure, assessed by a body above the parties, organised in such a way as to keep all aspects of its activity under control and guarantee reproducibility of performance and continuous improvement of the quality standards provided.

ISO is the World Organisation for Standardisation, founded in London in 1947, with the aim of facilitating the coordination and unification of industrial technical standards. It is a non-governmental association of national standardisation bodies that develops voluntary technical standards, with the aim of making the development, production and supply of products and services more efficient, safe and transparent. Some standards have been adopted in some countries as part of the mandatory discipline. Since 1947, ISO has published more than 21,000 international standards. ISO has the task of developing technical standards but is not in charge of verifying that the standards are correctly applied by users. Conformity assessment is carried out by accredited verification bodies that offer this independent (or third-party) service. These bodies issue certificates of conformity to the standards. In Italy, ACCREDIA (an association between UNI and CEI) acts as an accreditation body for certifying companies. Accreditation is given for sectors of activity codified by ISTAT.

Please note that the S. Anna Institute is also a ECM Provider for training activities and in addition to being certified for sector EA 38, “Health and other Social Services”, the Institute is also ISO 9001 certified for training activities, i.e., for sector EA37, “Education”.
